Abu Dhabi-Peshawar daily flights launched

Pakistani carrier Airblue has started operations last week of a daily flight from the UAE’s capital Abu Dhabi, to the Pakistani city of Peshawar.

The launch of the new route, which commenced on December 19, will bring the carrier’s number of weekly flights from Abu Dhabi to a total of 18, the Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) said in a statement on Sunday.

Pakistan’s largest private airline will operate its fleet of new generation A319, A320 and A321 aircrafts to service the new route with a daily flight.

The flights are scheduled to depart Abu Dhabi at 06:00 am and arriving in Peshawar at 10:00 am with returning flights departing Peshawar at 11:00 am to arrive to Abu Dhabi at 01:00 pm, ADAC said.

“Air Blue’s new Abu Dhabi-Peshawar route will expand the connection towards major population centres on the subcontinent. The existing Lahore and Islamabad flights have been serving the needs of both our local community and travellers from Pakistan, and this new route will improve the choice and convenience we offer from Abu Dhabi International Airport,” Ahmed Al Haddabi, senior vice president of airport operations at ADAC, said in the statement.

Airblue launched its service from Abu Dhabi International Airport in 2008 with four weekly flights to Lahore, followed shortly with another direct service to Islamabad.

The airline has also announced an additional three flights to Lahore route, making this route daily in a bid to serve the large Pakistani community in the UAE.

Raheel Ahmed, general manager of marketing at Air Blue, said: “This new route to Peshawar will help satisfy the growing demand we are experiencing. There are around 900,000 Pakistani nationals living in the UAE, of which a large number live within easy reach of the airport in Abu Dhabi. So we are sure of the success of this new route.”

Peshawar is the capital of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province and the administrative centre for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan.
